Social Media will soon be Sacred Media. This is a powerful leap for our culture and its really about time. I'm one guy that is not going to follow Pope Bene on Twitter. I think there are going to be some shocked Bishops and Cardinals in Rome this weekend when they see first hand, the kind of MMS Pics, naughty texting and Adult content distributed over the Internet. (and thats just from their own Catholic Priests!...Ba Boom!, I'm here all week folks! Try the Veal...) Seriously Folks, I hope the Vatican and all Spiritual Leaders take digital technology seriously and fund a bullish effort to help address the problems of our young People without all the guilt. All jokes aside, the 10 Comandmants (minus Moses and the Hell implications) are not bad guildelines to try and live within. Even if you miss a couple, you're still not a bad guy...and I've missed a couple...
I'm sure technology and religion or sprituality will be a good thing for any Culture and it seems like some of us could use a healthy dose of empathy for others.(At least the Wall Street guys, oh yeah and the guys from Goldman Sachs) I'm just glad Sister Francis Ann from St Mary's Grade school didnt have TXT capabilites. No telling what kind of "Guilt trip" she would have use it for. I can still feel her Ruler on the back of my neck because I didnt recite the Apostle Creed clearly! She said I would go to Hell because of it. Hell? Bless me Father for I have sinned, the last Text I read from you, was a month ago...ouch, I'm sorry Sister.
So there you have it. Having a bad experience with Nuns in grade school will stop me and many others from getting 4-5 text messages a day telling us to be good or die from the Vatican. That said, I think its about time the Pope and his crew (and all religions) get on board the Internet in a very big and meaninful way. Yes, and I was an Alterboy too, Im sorry Father, Im sorry. Please dont send me to hell. ...Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa (unsubcribe)
